Diplo out of Future Music Festival

One of the scene’s biggest proponents of the baile funk sound sweeping clubs around the world in 2007, Future Entertainment have officially announced that Diplo will no longer appear at the forthcoming Future Music Festival.

“After months of negotiation and a green light to announce him on our first release earlier this month, Diplo’s agent has since decided otherwise,” Future remarked to ITM in a statement released earlier today. “We are really sorry that Diplo will be missing out on what is shaping up to be by far the biggest and most successful Future Music Festival’s we have ever produced!”

Last in Australia early in 2007 for the Big Day Out festival, although Diplo’s absence from the Future Music Festival is likely to upset some, with the remaining lineup featuring some of the biggest names in electronic music (cough, Chemical Brothers, cough), you’d be hard pressed to find his cancellation a reason not to head along.

The third round of Future Music Festival acts is expected in January, with a replacement for Diplo on the cards. As always, stay tuned to ITM for updates!

P.S. Diplo *is* still coming to Australia. I will be wearing a "Fuck Future" t-shirt. Or at least thinking it ;)

Completely fucked. Check out Diplo's myspace though and, if you would, change the thrust of this article so that it doesn't appear to be fellating Mark James et co so much (not that I think it's intentional). Diplo himself says that he *never* confirmed this. Sounds like yet another case of Future counting their chickens before hatching time. (That's a kind euphemism for "lying," by the way; they have done the same thing with the Presets' DJ set @ Adelaide's Summadayze.) It's disgraceful. Of course, Future's monopoly on the major electronic music events in Australia means that people like me, pissed or not, will continue to buy tickets to events, and Future will continue to sodomise their customers. DISGRACEFUL.
