Fresh new Adelaide act Supermarket is primed for its first local appearances as the new year rolls in, hot on the heels of their North American mini-tour in November and December. The duo dropped audio-visual sets in Ontario, New York, Missouri and Texas recently, fleshing out their tour with video production workshops, talks in schools, universities and in micro-cinemas. Short and sweet cameo sets are on the cards for January as Supermarket pops its hometown cherry at the place to be in South Australia on January 1, Shores on a New Year’s Day. Supermarket has also snagged a support slot for giants of the New Zealand live electronic music scene, Salmonella Dub on January 5th at Fowler’s Live.
With Shores on a New Year’s Day’s headline act, seminal hip hop posse De La Soul rocking the main room at 3pm, Supermarket is stoked to be lighting up the dnb room at 4pm. With a crowd expected to exceed 3000 people and over 40 djs and acts on the bill including techno and house music veteran HMC, it’s gonna be one hell of a way to beckon in 2008. Sporting all original tunes and visuals, the Supermarket show is something better experienced than described. Preview copies of their debut 4 track DVD release We Never Close are available on their website: http://www.danimations.com.au/supermarket
