Saturday 5th January will see Sydney explode… With a massive amount of free music and cultural events right around the city, that will see the people well and truly taking back the streets. Festival First Night is nearly here, check below for set times!
By now you would have heard about the massive street party hosted by none other than Fuzzy that will be taking place across two different stages in Martin Place and Phillip Street that will feature performances from Spank Rock, Chromeo, Plump DJs, Ajax, Lost Valentinos, Funktrust, Kato and Ember. But that’s only a fraction of what’ll be going on around the city: the sounds of tango, jive, salsa, rumba and waltz will be echoing through Hyde Park, Paul Kelly and Brian Wilson will be performing to thousands of thousands of people in the Domain, the laneways of Angel Place will be brought alive with beats and visuals from Uber Lingua featuring DJs, instrumentalists and a crew of multilingual MCs
And that’s only scratching the surface. Make sure you get amongst it, below are the full set times and schedules for everything that is going down around the city!
MACQUARIE STREET
7.00-8.00pm: Spanish Harlem Orchestra get the party started with their irresistible energy and infectious Latin music.
8.00-9.15pm: Three Sydney couples, three unique weddings, thousands of well-wishers
9.15-10.45pm: Get out your kilt and shake it! Scottish sensation Shooglenifty head up a giant celebration of Celtic music and dance
HYDE PARK
6.00-11.00pm: Taste of Sydney – A selection of leading restaurants showcase their cuisine in a festival-style food fair
HYDE PARK STAGE
Tango, jive, salsa, rumba and waltz your way around the Archibald Fountain as Festival First Night turns back the clock to the 1940s
7.00-7.30pm: Learn to dance with Swing Patrol
7.30-8.45pm: Shuffle Club
8.45-9.15pm: DJ Brame (G-Swing)

8.30-11.00pm: Marvel at Airvag’s Roule Boule et les Ratatam – a luminous installation where claws rear out of nowhere and bouncing inflatables trigger confetti explosions as a colossal horn rises up into the night sky
