It won’t be long before she’s in Australia to perform at the Big Day Out and an extra-special sideshow as part of the Sydney Festival, but Bjork is already making waves in her oh-so recognisable fashion… The singer and songwriter has physically lashed out at a photographer in Auckland.
Björk had just arrived in New Zealand to perform as part of their Big Day Out and according to News.com.au she was in the company of a male who told the photographer in question – Glenn Jeffrey from the New Zealand Herald – that she didn’t want any photos to be taken. He took them anyway. “I took a couple of pictures… and as I turned and walked away she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy and tore it,” he said. “As she did this she fell over, she fell to the ground. At no stage did I touch her or speak with her.”
Apparently Björk was silent throughout, but the male with her kept saying, “B, don’t do this, B, don’t do this.” According to Jeffrey she ripped his shirt in half.
The photographer has spoken to the police about the alleged assault and staff from the Auckland International Airport are looking at video footage of the incident. Police haven’t asked to look at it yet.
Björk doesn’t seem to cope well after long flights: check out this 1996 clip when she famously lashed out at a journalist after a lengthy flight to Thailand!
