Known far and wide as one of breakbeat’s ultimate party starters, the inimitable Krafty Kuts is in Australia at the moment, tearing through the country on the national Big Day Out tour. Not content to simply rock the Boiler Room stage he’s also fitting in a bunch of solo club shows around the place, making this one of his biggest tours to date.
inthemix caught up with the Krafty one last week, fresh from kicking off his tour at the Beck’s Festival Bar in Sydney. Speaking candidly, Krafty went into detail on the long held rumour that he’ll one day relocate from his home in the UK to base himself in Australia. “Every DJ has his niche, and I’m very lucky that the Aussie people take to my music,” he remarked, before talking about his dream to one day move down under. “I’d like to live on the Gold Coast or Byron Bay. It’s such a nice area, everyone knows that.”
DJing and producing isn’t the only thing he’s got on his mind though, with Krafty also letting us in on a plan he’s had bubbling away that may see him enter the hospitality industry! “Me and Ming from Fuzzy have been talking about buying a bar and setting up a trendy little pad for people to come and listen to DJs playing alternative music. There’s lot of different ideas I have in terms of a career over here.
