With Australian electronic music production getting more and more attention around the globe in 2008, it’s no surprise that Brisbane would find itself also under the spotlight. This coming Friday night two of the city’s finest live electronic acts will launch their latest releases, with Segue and Hyperion teaming up for a show at the Moon Bar on February 8th.
Segue made their impact on the Brisbane scene in 2007, playing shows for Drop, Elements and Gooble, as well as a sold out headline show at Barsoma on NYE that saw them given a spot in the Boiler Room at the 2008 Big Day Out. Their new single is a double a-side, ‘Reset/Cronie’, and is set for release on Melbourne label Smash Bang Records.
Not to be outdone, Hyperion first emerged in March, 2007, and have since played support to General Midi and Chris Carter, with their tech-funk and breaks heavy progressive getting them recognition. Their new release comes through UK label Dead Famous Records, who will unleash ‘The Acid Grind’/’Chapel Hill’ as a 12-inch.
