No one can deny that the demand for tickets to Tiesto’s upcoming Melbourne shows was immense. The details were announced early on Tuesday 12th February it took just 90 minutes for the first Festival Hall event to sell out, with a second show quickly put onsale to cope with the overwhelming demand. With it having now also sold out in less than a day, many punters have been left feeling frustrated and upset that they’d missed out on tickets to one of the year’s most anticipated tours. Well, dry your eyes as your prayers have been answered… a third Tiesto ‘Elements of Life’ concert is now scheduled!
Speaking to inthemix after yesterday’s fervor, Tiesto’s Australian rep Totem / Hardware were keen to give us an insight into what was going on behind the scenes to make sure everyone had a chance to experience the Dutch trance legend live in concert. Have a read of the statement below for an explanation of the onsale date and venue choice, and if you missed out on tickets to either of Tiesto’s first two Melbourne events, be ready and waiting at 9am on Monday 18th February to ensure you get your tickets.
“Firstly apologies to the people that missed out. There was obviously people that did the research through Ticketmaster, Festival Hall, etc… As they were waiting to buy tickets at 9am on Tuesday morning. We do sympathise and feel for those that missed out so, a third concert for Friday 2nd May at Festival Hall will be on sale from 9am next Monday 18th February at Ticketmaster and on inthemix.com.au. It’s not really anyone’s fault as full info was released on Tuesday, the same day tickets went on sale, and no one expected such a high demand. In saying that, the fact that it sold so quickly surprised us all, hence the announcement of extra shows for those who missed out.
This is a Tiesto team directed show. There are specific guidelines on production (sound, lighting, video, staging, security). The two most suitable Melbourne venues were Vodafone (not available) and Festival Hall. We personally prefer Festival Hall because it’s something different. Things are getting way boring down here, very same-same. Its capacity is only 1,000 people less than Vodafone and it “feels” more intimate because it is set up sideways. As a space it is fantastic for this sort of event, with both Love Parade and Pharmacy Black greatly received at this venue in the past.”

I am sorry but this is just ridiculous - it is someone’s fault. As the organisers these guys are PAID to ensure proper promotion etc. Please spare me the 'something different' line - the promoter didn’t want to risk a large financial loss and that is why they selected this stupid venue - All those from Melbourne know this! Shame on you for stuffing this whole thing up!

Umm, How stupid are these organisers. he has been playing sell out 25,000 crowds every weekend for years, and they were "suprised" about how 3000 tickets sold out quickly? are you serious? and how many tickets are going to be on sale for Brisbane? im flying from darwin to go to the brisbane show and if i am, how many others are doing something similar? and its one night in a club. lame.

MEDEA do you have no idea what ur saying? if it was about money the event wouldve been held somewhere bigger. The only bigger venue but it isnt available this weekend. Festival Hall capacity we have capped at 5000 (below their legal cap), for production reasons. SIKIZM, the organiser arent stupid at all, i would say the marketing "stunt" to date has been successful no? It seemed 10,000 ppl knew across Australia and bought their tickets very very quickly. The extra show is on so those of you on here that have missed out, now you have another chance

Festival hall is really the nastiest venue you could have chosen, its old, it echos its manky smell... the sound is just crap in there, very bad choice. You are going to get sooooooo many complaints on how this could of been done better.

for some reason i snagged Brisbane tickets yesterday off this site but mates that were trying today have been told they arent on sale till this arvo (Wed). Im actually out of the country when he plays so have to give up my tickets but am in Bangkok when he plays there .. god knows how difficult thats going to be to get tickets .. on his site the venue is still TBC .. the promoters need a reality check !!

totemi, im not even going to melbourne, like i said, im going to the brisbane show, which isnt on sale yet, but the stupidity of the organisers are apparent. just because you got tickets, doesnt mean they aren't stupid. As i said, he has been playing to arena of 20,000-30,000, and they are choosing a pittyful venue, because it took them so long to get organised they missed out on Vodaphone. and becasue of this fact, they are holding extra shows, but cities like adelaide and perth miss out? Organisation is poor. put on concerts at venues that will hold 20,000 in all capital cities and you'll fill all of them guarenteed.

Wikid news on a 3rd show 4 us ^^ I'd say it'll sell out as well, me and all my mates have missed out on the other 2 shows ~shattered! I really feel for the fans in other cities and agree there probably should be a show in perth or something. As for the venue, yeah the organisers f*cked up baaad, they wouldn't have needed 3 shows if they had their act together and booked somewhere like vodafone or even better the sydney-myer music bowl, such venues could fit heaps more people... but probably still would have sold out.... what can i say, this is dance capital :) Summary~ Booyah on 3rd show for those of us who missed out :D Organisers, get ur sh*t together and don't make these mistakes again :(

It's been so long since he's been to perth. The demand here would be huge too. It's crap, and being a uni student who's partied pretty hard this year, i can't afford to fly to melbourne to see.. Plenty of ppl in perth would kill to see him!

I am over the whole Melbourne thing. I have tickets for Sydney and I'm sticking with them. The Hordern Pavillion is a venue worthy of Tiesto.

Even if tiesto was playing somewhere bigger i.e rod laver tickets still would have been sold out in 90 minutes i think its pretty disgraceful that people went out and bought 300 tickets at a time just to sell them on ebay for more than double what they paid for them rrp

totemi there is no doubt that a bigger venue = more money. However, bigger venue is also runs the risk of a hig upfront cost that may not be filled by tickets. THe record company determines the venue and risk associated with bringing an artist down by looking at the record sales and testing the audience by checking websites etc. In Australia the sales of Elements have not been as good as other countries - they stuffed up and only relied on recent figures. Festival Hall has the benefit that you can tentatively book back to back nights if things go well in the first round of sales - as it has. If anyone here has heard of RATM would know the SAME stuff up happened...

I totally agree.... Poor organising.. the venue is a very bad choice i honestly wouldn't of minded paying more for his ticket if it were say at vodafone arena... I won't be suprised if there is a fourth show on the 3rd of May..

Anyone know how long one of his shows goes for? Starting at 6/7pm I hope they don't fizz out by 10pm!?!?! I'm coming down to Melbourne from Brisbane, because the Brisbane show will be less than average in Family as its too small, and they'll cram people in like sardines, it'll be horrible, so the people from Perth and Adelaide etc could ujust do the same, if you like him enough and really want to see him you'd make the effort....I am and I have a show in my home town. I just hope the Festival(which I know nothing of) isn't a horrible venue like many on here have said. Can't wait for this!

Certainly a case of poor organisation. A show like this with such anticipation could easily be sold out in ANY capital city provided it was organised properly. Armin07 had flyers up for months - date and venue confirmed. And Perth - from everyone here, Tiesto and co WTF?

With those three shows in hand at melb, he could of made his way to perth :( :(, yes ok the demand is in the eastern states but the demand is here too and there would be more if more artists made the effort to come here because every gig we get, gets a damn good response, perth is grownin n changin we aint some hick town, and some of us would love to see tiesto n make the trip but just cant afford it so where is the fairness in that, it jus sucks cos there is a big fan base for trance and dance music here as any other state and we always luck out :(:(

Is your company's market and demographic research that poor?? It is evident that Tiesto's concert within Melbourne would sell at least 25,000 tickets. I would like to say to the company bringing out Tiesto, do not blame Tiesto's team. As the promoter you are supposed to INFORM and keep the public INFORMED prior to ticket release date. Yes we found tickets through the Ticketmaster website and we are quite lucky (my friends and I) to get our hands on first release. I would NEVER run my event with promoters like you, don't try and save your reputation with your sympathy speech- I am outraged and so are many others. There is no doubt that TIESTO the name and man him self doesn't need promotion to sell his tickets but without trying to cover your backsides the truth is, you the promoters used this to your advantage to save you the promotion and advertsing jobs, should you be commended for bringing out Tiesto? No. You shouldn't have even had the honours of bringing him to Australia at all. Mark James deserved it mate.

Guys, no wonder the tickets sold that quick. have a look on ebay at this guy: bluepeople83. He has 100 tickets for sale. This is a disgrace. How was he allowed to purchase 100 tickets. I bet he is from the organizers camp and they sell the tickets on the black market for triple the price. And like him there are others.. I can understand the young people that buy 3-4 tickets and sell 1-2 to get the concert for free, but 100 tickets... This is a disgrace! Please don't buy the tickets from these scalpers. hopefully this third concert will live them with their tickets unsold.

everyone stop worrying about the venue - yes they could have picked a better place with more capacity but they havent - this show is amazing - last year i went to this show 3 times -i went to belfast which was a really old cold warehouse type place - Arhnem in holland which was in a convention centre place - and also edinburgh which was an old hangar/warehouse again - each of these venues were very different - couldnt fault holland at all as the set up there was amazing for vip - the people at these nights made the atmosphere as well as the show tiesto put on - i really dont think anyone will be disapointed- i wud have gone anywhere last year to see this show - im just happy that he is coming here at last - so come on aussies lets enjoy - ( take a look at some footage on youtube and see wat we are in for ) yipeeeee i cant wait

i tell you what pissed me right off... how come there was no credit card buying limit???!!! unlike summadayze where there was 2 tickets per credit card limit, for tiesto, who of course is the biggest thing to come to Aus, there was no limit at all?! you go on ebay and see HEAPS of tickets up for sale ranging from $100-$600 WTF?! n all the people that missed out have to wait n try our luck on monday morning! :( next time HARDWARE CORP. or any other promoter must put a buying limit so others that have no concern other than making money out of us fans cannot do this again!!! i am absolutely disgraced by what i saw on ebay...someone selling 54 tickets for $250ea just rediculous! good luck for monday everyone!
