What’s that you say: a new festival with Junkie XL, DJ T, Klaas, Ian Carey, Richard Dinsdale and more? That’s right, the Climate Festival is coming this April, and it’s a brand new not-for-profit event that’ll be increasing community awareness of climate change, and it’ll see the promoters working closely with organisations like Green Pages Australia, Climate Friendly and The Wilderness Society. Keeping things carbon neutral all day, the aim of the Climate Festival is to bring you the latest in dance music, together with a heightened sense of eco awareness.
Brought to you by new kids on the block Circus Entertainment, 100 per cent of all profits will be donated to affiliated environmental organisations. Aiming to take the musical message out to 20,000 people across the country, you can expect a huge amount of environmental initiatives to accompany all the tunes, including on-site recycling, educational outlets as well as organic food and merchandise stalls. And it’s got a rather interesting headliner in the form of… Wait for it… None other than Tommy Lee! Returning to Australia and playing alongside his partner in crime DJ Aero, they’ll be combining live percussion with electronica in the same fashion that has seen them take their ‘Electric Mayhem’ tour around the world and play at clubs like Pacha in New York, Mansion in Miami and more.
You’ll fall into the camp of either loving or hating Tommy Lee, but whatever your preference is he’ll be accompanied by a fine selection of international dance music DJ producers: one of electronic music’s most enduring icons Junkie XL will be playing live, Get Physical Records star DJ T will be returning to Australia, house and electro will be well represented with appearances from Ian Carey, Richard Dinsdale and Klaas and we’ve got some new dance music names in the form of Eric Laville and Mark Mendes. The international guests will be backed up by the likes of Seany B, Scientists of Modern Music and Resin Dogs on local support duties.
Check out the dates for when Climate Festival will be passing by your city…
