The Corinbank three day festival of music, art and immersion is less than two weeks away and the final list of performers and activities has been announced. Organisers ensure this will be the first of its kind in a new type of festival entertainment where the audience is invited to create their own individual experience.
Over a year of back-crunching hard labour by more than 100 organisers and volunteers has gone into making a totally unique and diverse festival environment. Everything from stages to bars, artwork and attractions has been hand made by volunteers and organisers in an eco-friendly, sustainable manner.
Normally at a festival, thousands of people spend the day crammed onto a dance space in front of the stage waiting patiently for their favourite act. The bar is packed, the line to the toilets rival the length of the Nile and if all else fails, you set up a small spot on the grass where you can watch all the action from afar.
Dan Watters, member of Resonate who are behind the whole thing, is keen to point out Corinbank’s uniqueness. “Gone are the days of the one-way entertainment we’ve come to expect from our large music festivals; Corinbank promises a new way of interacting with the musical and ecological environment that surrounds us.” Dan said.
“Over three days, the Corinbank audience will have the opportunity to learn a new skill with a range of workshops, ram your mate on a dodgem bike, or just sit back and be immersed within the exciting, artistic environment. The audience now moves from being a spectator to a participant”.
Anyone would accept the enormous 50 plus acts (headlined by Xavier Rudd and The Herd) gracing the two natural amphitheatre stages as entertainment enough, but it’s obvious that this is no ordinary event.
Corinbank is set to have the most diverse range of entertainment ever known to a music festival. Workshops and activities will run throughout the three days, inviting punters to share and engage with others through artistic expression.
Amongst other learning opportunities, local breaks and drum n bass duo Karton will offer their skills in teaching you how to create a dance track. Or, if you prefer a more urban sound, learn how to write a hip hop track with D’Opus and Roshambo.
Other activities will include guided mountain bike riding through the forest, yoga by the riverbank, designing and creating sculptures, or hurtling down a 110 metre waterslide. And that’s just a start.
Corinbank’s seam-bursting program offers something for everyone, even the kids. The festival aims to bring out the creative potential within each person and offers a luxurious natural environment for those who would rather just relax. Whatever you choose to do at Corinbank, it’s obvious that this will be an experience like no other before it.
Corinbank takes place at Corin Forest, February 29 – March 3. Tickets are on-sale now from www.corinbank.com and Landspeed Records
