Since its launch 8 years ago the Australian arm of global dance brand Ministry of Sound has grown to become the country’s most successful dance record labels. Throughout this time the label has bucked the trend of dwindling sales in the current music market, with popular compilation releases like Ministry of Sound ‘Sessions’ and ‘The Annual’ regularly selling in excess of 100,000 copies.
Initially started as a joint venture with record label EMI, as of January 1st Ministry of Sound will now be distributed by Universal. It’s a move that the label’s Managing Director Tim McGee sees as a step forward in continuing Ministry of Sound’s growth. “It is important that as a Company we seek out new beginnings and continue the growth and I am confident that the new partnering with Universal will accomplish this,” McGee stated. “We look forward to our new home at Universal but it will be difficult leaving behind the friendships at EMI which have been built over the past 8 years.”
The Ministry team will move into the Universal office at the end of March. Stay tuned to ITM for updates.
