With Brisbane, Perth and Sydney already wrapped up, on Sunday it was Melbourne’s turn to experience the Future Music Festival. Check out the photos here on ITM, and keep your eyes peeled as the review will follow shortly.

FMF scored a #1 placing last year as the ITM’s favorite festival, and going on the feedback in the forums, the punters in Melbourne once again left satisfied this year. While the event was seemingly spared from the sound issues that plagued the Sydney show, the main gripe was with the overcrowding that was experienced, at the main stage in particular. “Absolute nightmare to get to the front, claimed one ITM community member. “Too many people, poorly designed… No proper flow of people, I found it all so incredibly frustrating. Once we got the front, no moving for a while!”

So it’s a good thing the music was so amazing. Eddie Halliwell got the crowd pumped: “What a performer! Claimed ITM’s own Katrina Loughrey, promotions coordinator for Melbourne. “Stood on top of the decks, jumped into the crowd, with the punters cheering ‘EDDIE EDDIE’ all through his set.” Sven Vath was up to his usual antics and won over the crowd once again, and while John Digweed copped a bit of flack for typically failing to show any excitement behind the decks, those who listened to his set could agree on one thing – the tunes were sick.

The Chemical Brothers again blew away the crowd with their over-the-top visual spectacle, but again it was progressive trance DJ/producer Markus Schutz that got nearly as many props. “WOW WOW WOW! Luuuuurved it! Played his big tracks like the Perspective mashup and Vincent De Moor’s Fly Away. Then fireworks went off behind him at the end of his set… Crowd went mental and everyone was dancing like manics!”
