Following the recent news that Sydney’s Foreigndub crew will be launching their own record label as part of their goal to bring to light some of our country’s best undiscovered talent, their flagship DNBBQ party will also be returning. And it’ll be the perfect chance to showcase two of the newly-established label’s most exciting signings: much-loved outfit The Bird, as well as Melbourne producer Ishu.
The headline act for the next DNBBQ event, The Bird are back with the followup to their last album Birdsville Sessions, and the new album Re-Inventions is a series of remix collaborations with some of Australia’s top producers and live acts. Due for release in April on the Foregindub label, it’ll see them teaming up with a massive range of artists that includes The Resin Dogs, Hermitude, Kobra Kai, DJ Ransom, Ritual, Semper Fi, Johnny Hooves and many more.
Melbourne producer Ishu will also be putting out a release in April on the Foreigndub label, and he’ll be another excellent reason to head along to the next DNBBQ event. With an existing repertoire of solo instrumentals and vocal collaborations under his belt, his particular brand of hip hop is fused with dub, reggae and drum n’ bass sounds. Sporting a ‘live production’ setup when he hits the stage that’s apparently comparable to that of Mad Professor or DJ Krush, he produces all the sounds created in the studio when he’s performing live, manipulating them on the fly and spontaneously.
