At V Festival Gold Coast, head Smashing Pumpkin Billy Corgan was reportedly none too happy that his mainstage slot was competing with The Presets across the field. In the gaps between songs, the sound of thousands of muddy punters raving to throbbing four-four perturbed Corgan and co.
In an interview with ITM conducted earlier this week, the non-singing half of the Presets Kim Moyes confirmed the dummy-spit. “Billy Corgan slagged us off on Sunday,” he revealed. “Every time he stopped a song he’d look over and see our crowd having the best time of their lives. You know, he’s pretty miserable. I guess he was just jealous.”
Asked what the frontman had actually said, Kim was all to happy to share. “He was complaining about all he could hear was the kick drum, and his band started to play along to what they could hear. Of course, none of them have any groove, so apparently it sounded really terrible. Apparently he told the crowd to go and bash up our crowd.”
According to gossip watchers Popbitch (so bring a shovel of salt), Corgan also requested “a defibrillator and an ambulance” on his rider when recording a show for MTV’s The Lair. He also stipulated that crew members were not allowed to walk in his line of sight while he was performing.
