DJ Krush is undoubtedly one of the most revered names in the global hip-hop scene. Hailing from the land of the rising sun, Japan, he hasn’t toured Australian since 2006, and but in late May he’ll finally return for a long anticipated Sydney show at the Oxford Art Factory. Known for his signature down tempo approach to the genre, Krush is one of the few identities to have emerged on the Japanese hip-hop scene that’s taken seriously on the global stage. He is known for his experimental approach, with a real penchant for instrumental tracks that have layered and ambient textures.

Not surprisingly, he’s had some of the underground scene’s most revered MCs, producers and DJs line up to work with him across his career, including Guru of GangStarr, Black Thought of The Roots, CL Smooth and Mos Def. His most recent album, ‘Stepping Stones’, was a Best Of that gathered together his finest production work to date, although Krush couldn’t help but remix and re-edit all the tracks included, making it an entirely fresh listen for even the most tried and tested fans of his work. Not surprisingly, it very quickly became a cult classic.

DJ Krush plays the Oxford Art Factory on Saturday May 24th. Tickets are onsale now from ITM, stay tuned for updates.
