New York city hip hop artists The Beatnuts and Jeru the Damaja are heading down under, playing at Melbourne’s legendary live venue The Espy on Friday 18th April, the Groove Is In The Park festival in Adelaide on Saturday 20th April, and the Manning Bar at Sydney Uni on Thursday 24th April.
With Latino backgrounds, The Beatnuts have worked with some of the biggest names in the hip hop industry, including Dead Prez and Common, and are said to be unabashedly, bullishly ribald and in-your-face performers. Jeru the Damaja, a MC from Brooklyn, started rhyming at local parties and has worked extensively with Guru and DJ Premier of GangStarr.
