For many months the masses have been mumbling names under their breath, trawling the internet for clues, and making ever so bold presumptions– but finally the list is in! The complete line-up for Splendour in the Grass 2008 is here and boy are we in for a wondrous weekend of musical mayhem.

Heading up the bill will be the manic godfathers of post punk – Devo, who we can only hope come clad in flower pots hats intent on confusing and entertaining all. Also heading along to mesmerise the muddy crowds are the dolorously avant-garde Icelandic wonders Sigur Ros.

The internationals don’t stop there though. UK juggernauts, The Music, will be hitting the shores of Byron to the pleasure of all who have been awaiting their return, along with Vampire Weekend, The Fratellis and The Wombats.

Not to be out done by the out-of –towners, there will be one hell of a local contingent doing Byron Bay this year as Wolfmother make their return to the stage after a long hiatus. Stomping proudly on the stage next to them will be The Living End, who are set to flash the wares from their highly anticipated new album. And after their killer secret set at Splendour 2006, The Vines will be back to prove they can do it all again.

On the dance and hip-hop side of things, local favourites The Presets and Pnau will head things up, along with indie darlings Van She. On the international tip we’ll see Kiwi MC Scribe, along with electro duo MSTRKRFT and long-standing trip-hop impresario Tricky. Haven’t heard from that guy in ages!

Anyway enough blagging, here’s the lineup:

The Music

Sigur Ros

they really failed to capture the hype that lead up to this announcement.. good luck at selling out with tickets prices that high. is anyone actually headlining? Every band on there looks like a support band to me.

That can't be the full lineup... can it?! Where's Underworld, Radiohead, or at least one big name worth the ticket price! Having Scribe there is proof enough splendour has sold out.

Disappointing. Pretty dull lineup apart from Tricky, Sigur Ros, MSTRKRFT and a couple of others. Thought it would be at least as good as We Love Sounds, it appears not.

"The complete line-up..."? I hope so coz I didn't get a ticket. Only name in there I'd consider really is tricky, hopefully he'll sideshow across the country - with Massive Attack no less!
