Cast your minds back to late 2007 when Future Entertainment head honcho Mark James spilt the beans that his company had just picked up the rights to the Cream brand in Australia (read about it HERE). At the time Mark said it would be making its debut in Easter ‘08 when they’d be kicking things off with a national club tour. While obviously that tour never eventuated, you can be sure that Future still has massive plans for the Cream franchise – which may even include the renowned Creamfields festival coming to our shores!
Future Entertainment have a habit of dropping tantalizing clues for what they’ve got coming up, and following the recent announcement on their website that they’ve become the official representative of the Cream brand in Australia, they’ve dropped another bombshell once again. Featuring a timeline of the Cream brand that stretches back to its birth at the Nation nightclub in Liverpool in 1992, when it reaches 2008 it’s followed by the headline of ‘CREAMFIELDS’, as well as the copy; “Creamfields is the only festival concept that has been successfully established in the global market,” it says, continuing on shortly after to say that, “Tours are already confirmed in the UK, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Australia,” with the final word auspiciously highlighted in blue.
While it’s far from a concrete announcement, Mark James himself might have actually made a made a reference to Creamfields visiting Oz when he spoke with ITM late last year. “We’ve just taken over the Cream brand, and we’ll be looking after that from now on in Australia. That might turn into a festival, you never know,” he said to inthemix. “But we’re currently looking at another couple of festivals next year and one specifically that’s going to be around the end of November, which is a big overseas brand that will be coming to Australia for the very first time.” Creamfields coming to Australia this November? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
Since Creamfields was launched in 2000 it’s been taken to more than 15 countries worldwide, including Spain, Portugal, Chile, Brazil, Ireland, Mexico, Poland, the Czech Republic and Argentina. And with Australia currently mad for music festivals, there’s no denying Creamfields would make a fantastic fit.
Creamfields reaching our shores before the end of the year? Stay tuned to ITM for news!

i hope this doesn't happen while im overseas during july-october this yr :s ..... actually doesn't matter i will be going to godskitchen global gathering and creamfields in the uk anyway :D .... but this is huge news.... Creamfields to come to Australia I hope, but we need a bigger venue that the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne so ALL forms for electronic dance music can be represented in many stages, and not just have the one generic main stage with electro house that kids love and the other stages having much poorer sound quality and less capacity, i.e. Summadayze and Future Music Festival. Great news though!!
barkus says...
all sounds great....but will creamfields be any different from Future festival, which now that it is at Myer Music Bowl, is basically the same as summadayze?
Spiro De Fiero says...
^ thats what I was wondering. Apart from a different line up, how will this be different?

definately an interesting prospect... hopefully Future will bring something new to this event if it goes ahead...

fk! im praying everyweek and every minute that future will not hold creamfields at that shithole of a dump myer bowl! it has been done to death. an event like creamfields deserves a bit more respect than that :)

I went to Creamfields 2003 in Buenos Aires and was amazing. More than 60k, from Saturday 1pm to Sunday 8am. I think in Australia it's going to be a great success. Hopefully I'm going again this November.

future sucks so much. just another non original uk club brand they will be touring. boring. so glad they are into techno now that it is popular again. fucking try hards. the only reason they are big is because hardware let them in on two tribes back in the day.

OMG! Bring it on! Does everyone know you can go to iTunes and download the free podcast video of Creamfields 2007 - it's fabulous and mad. Cannot wait for this phenomenon to get here! If you've never experienced a Pacha or Cream event before then get excited people, coz Mark James is no dummy and this event will blow minds! There is nothing like it! :-) xx

seeing as Future already has the rights to Godskitchen, maybe they should stage a Global Gathering event in the near future.... dunno what the profitablity would be like, it's probably not going to be profitable if they get all those huge names that they have for the UK festival but that would be insane. Needs to be held in the middle of nowhere, that can accomodate at least 60,000ppl :D and every stage should be equal in terms of sound capacity and production setup!!

OMG! Do you guys have any idea of what Creamfiels is like??? It's an event like no other!!! I have been to Creamfields Buenos Aires 3 times and it absolutely blew my mind!! Nothing like future or godskitchen....this is going to be the PARTY of the year! If the Oz line up is anything like the one announced for Liverpool ... Fasten your seatbelts people!!!!! :)

same shit different smell.... Future Entertainment organise shite festivals and i have no reason to think a Creamfields branded event would be any different. what the people really want is less overpriced, over hyped and generally disappointing festivals, and more development of cool club spaces in major cities (Sydney being a prime example) with kick-arse sound and a funky vibe who brings in top DJs regularly.
