There’s a few of you out there who are just a wee bit excited about the ‘Armin Only’ events due to hit Australia next month, which will see Dutch DJ/producer Armin van Buuren’s mammoth series of parties debuting outside Holland for the very first time. And they’re certainly events that are world renowned for all the little touches they bring – amazing production, sound, lasers and most notably, guest vocalists and live acts, as Armin takes the crowd on a journey over 9 hours. But what special surprises do we have in store when it reaches Australia? When ITM spoke to Armin recently about the upcoming ‘Armin Only’ shows, he certainly wasn’t giving anything away.

“One of the things that we always do with ‘Armin Only’ in Holland is that we do not announce the guests, for the simple reason that it should be a surprise. It’s a show that while it’s essentially a DJ set, it still comes with entertainment – instead of the vocal coming from the CD, it’s being done live,” he told ITM. “We can’t bring the same lineup of artists to Australia, simply because they’re busy and they have to stay in Holland. But the good thing is, we have other artists from previous shows, or haven’t performed with us yet that I can bring with me.”

While the details are scant, if you’re in the business of taking a punt then there’s a few educated guesses you could make. “If you look at the release of my new artist album, then you could get a little bit of an idea of who might possibly be there, but I don’t want to confirm anything… I think people know what Armin Only is about now, and what they can expect. And that’s what I aim for.”

When asked how much of the ‘Armin Only’ spectacular experience be making the flight over from Holland, Armin says we can look forward to the real deal. “Almost all of it,” he says. “We’re aiming at 70-80 per cent of the show to be brought over to Australia. Obviously there’s a lot of costs involved as we don’t only fly over the artists, but also the stage designers, the lighting guys, the directors. On the ‘Armin Only’ shows here in Holland there were 700 people working on the night,” he told ITM. “So it’s definitely not ‘Armin Lonely’.”
