Over the past few years Earthdance has grown in leaps and bounds to become quite frankly the most anticipated free music festival on the annual calendar. The fact that it’s all done for a good cause is the icing on the cake! In 2008 the event will once again return, and it’s looking to build on the massive success of last year’s festival which attract 40,000 people.
The thing that makes Earthdance stand out from the crowd is the fact it takes place simultaneously in over 200 cities in 50 countries around the world. It’s a global festival for peace, celebrating cultural diversity through music. It has run in Sydney since 2004, and this year it falls on Saturday 13th September, and will take place in the new location of Prince Alfred Park (the same place Surry Hills Festival is held each year).
With the festival being strictly non-profit, it’s understandable that funds are required to get it off the ground. The official launch party is one of the main drivers to raise money for the festival, and this year it’ll take place at The Cross, The Bourbon and The Bunker in Kings Cross on Saturday 9th August. Cheekily given the tag line “philanthropy has never been this hedonistic”, there’ll be five stages with some of Sydney’s finest DJs and live acts.
Keep the dates free in your calendar, and stay tuned to ITM for updates on lineups. We’ll bring full details will be coming over the next few weeks!
