Winter’s most anticipated music festival is only a few days away, and after months of meticulous planning it’s now up to Mother Nature to decide if she’ll smile upon the Splendour faithful with a weekend of sunshine. There’ve been a few sodden Splendours in the past – the torrential downpour of 2003 instantly springs to mind here – and while it’s served to make the festival that much more memorable, no one can deny they secretly hope for clear and pleasant climes this weekend.
The forecast for Byron on Tuesday is showers early, but on Wednesday things look set to clear up, remaining sunny but cool until Friday when temps are expected to reach 23 degrees. At this stage both Saturday and Sunday look set to remain sunny and clear for the main event, reaching highs of 23 and 18 degrees each day respectively.
weather.com.au forecast (as at midday, Tuesday July 29th):
TUE – Showers Early, Showers Early, Mostly Sunny, Cool & Gusty – min 11, max 17
WED – Sunny & Cool – min 11, max 18
THU – Sunny & Cool – min 11, max 19
FRI – Mostly Sunny, Mild & Breezy – min 13, max 23
SAT – Sunny & Cool – min 15, max 23
SUN – Sunny & Cool – min 12, max 18
MON – Sunny & Cool – min 11, max 18
Presumably Splendour’s progressive approach with carbon offsetting has put them in the karma clear, so it should be a fine and dandy weekend of musical bliss. If not, just look on the up side; when else are you going to wear those designer gumboots?
We’ll keep an eye on things as the week wears on!
