Until now a well publicised fear of flying has prevented Swedish house music heavyweight Eric Prydz from boarding the 20+ hour flight to Australia. After the success of mainstream hits like Call On Me and his Pink Floyd mash-up Proper Eduction, as well as underground club smashers like Pjanoo and Aftermath as Pryda, his local fans have been patiently waiting for him to have a change of heart. Well, your prayers have been answered; Eric Prydz is finally coming to Australia.
After years of speculation on whether he’d ever overcome his crippling phobia and make it down under, Future Entertainment have confirmed that Prydz will play Summadayze at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on January 1st, 2009, alongside the mighty Underworld. It’s a remarkable turn of events and follows a successful debut tour of North America by Prydz earlier this year. At this stage there are no further details announced on where else Prydz will play across Australia over the NYE/NYD period, but fingers crossed he’ll be able to fit in a full run of dates. We don’t imagine he’d fly all this way without making it worth his while!
FUN FACT: Prydz isn’t alone with his flying phobia. According to Wikipedia other notable identities who share the fear include Jennifer Aniston, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, R Kelly, Kirsten Dunst and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Stay tuned to ITM for updates, and in the meantime check out the clip for his single Pjanoo:
