Considering the first round announcement of Global Gathering is still fresh in everyone’s mind, it’s come as a pleasant surprise that a second wave of acts have been added to the line-up for the Sydney and Melbourne legs of the tour so soon. If you’re in Perth or Brisbane sit tight, as confirmation of additional acts is expected for those cities early next week. In addition, dates and venues for Sydney and Melbourne are now also locked in.
The thought of seeing Mark Ronson, Kraftwerk, Sasha, Above & Beyond, Fischerspooner, Felix Da Housecat, The Orb, LA Riots and Larry Tee was exciting enough, but now with the addition of more internationals and some local talent to the party Global Gathering is truly shaping up to be one of the standout events of 2008.
Arguably most exciting in the latest batch of artists, the Gorillaz Sound System. This will be the first time Australia has ever experienced the Gorillaz’s audio-visual treat, and comes after a successful year of touring to international festivals like Pukkelpop and Creamfields. Not to be outdone, local legends Dirty South and The Potbelleez are also on board, as well as German trancer ATB and long serving Japanese tech DJ Kazu Kimura.
In Sydney the festival will take place at the Hordern Pavilion, Royal Hall of Industries & Entertainment Quarter on Sunday November 30th, and in Melbourne it all goes down at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday November 22nd.
