Spring has sprung, but before we say goodbye to winter it’s time to take a look back at what stories were the hottest for the month of August. It was a bumper few weeks for massive festival and tour announcements, and it left our heads in a daze trying to keep up with it all.
Four of the top 10 stories for August, 2008, were Global Gathering related, including the top three items! No doubt this points towards it being one of the most anticipated events of the coming summer. Remember if you want to keep up to date on all the latest Global Gathering news keep www.inthemix.com.au/globalgathering bookmarked.
At #4, the news that Stereosonic had both Booka Shade and Carl Cox locked in for their festival tour also proved a popular item, and when combined with other confirmed acts Paul van Dyk and Crookers, it certainly bodes well for their full announcement of tour dates, venues and artists, coming this week.
Perennial favourite Summadayze got the Melbourne folk excited at #5, and it was closely followed by the news on results for the 2008 Sony inthemix50 – congrats to Tydi! Further NYE tour announcements slotted in at #7, with first details of Sensation nipping at its heels (a huge feat, considering this story is from July and ranked at #2 last month!)
Coming in at #9, it’s interesting to see the tour announcement for indie band MGMT also struck a chord with the inthemix community. It’s been one of our favourite albums of this year, so it’s nice to see you guys agree they’re a band worth keeping an eye on.
