Future Entertainment features in BRW's Top 50 Entertainers

It’s a sure sign that the Australian dance scene is in a healthy place when its biggest player features in BRW magazine’s annual list of Top 50 Entertainers. Sitting at #35 with estimated earnings of $2.4 million you’ll find Future Entertainment’s Mark James and Jason Ayoubi, who are no doubt chuffed to find themselves in the company of bonafide superstars and celebrities like Naomi Watts, Eric Bana, Jennifer Hawkins and Rove McManus.
2008 has been Future’s most successful and ambitious year to date, with their Melbourne NYD institution Summadayze celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Future Music Festival well and truly establishing itself as one of the most anticipated national tours on the party calendar, their Armin Only shows selling out in Sydney and Melbourne, and their newest venture Global Gathering looking to be one of the biggest new festival’s of the summer.
Future weren’t the only promoters to appear in the list, with Michael Coppel (#19 – $5.3 million), Michael Gudinski (#26 – $3.5 million), Michael Chugg (#33 – $2.6 million), and Ken West and Vivian Lees of the Big Day Out (#39 – $2 million). However they’re dwarfed somewhat by the top 5, with The Wiggles ($45 million), Kylie Minogue ($40 million), Russell Crowe ($36 million), Hugh Jackman ($25 million) and Hi-5 ($18 million) ranking as Australia’s richest entertainers.

dleklas, you'll find that Hi-5 are on salary and the Hi-5 brand is what makes all the money, it's owned by Channel 9 and a production company. Whereas, the wiggles own their own intellectual property.

The title assumes that the list contains the BEST entertainers, when it's only a list of entertainers who earn the most money. Purely who has the biggest resources and can make the most profits, it has nothing to do with being a top entertainer. Who cares how much these fat cats earn? Whether they can put on a good show/festival is another thing...

the music industry has alot more money then the movie industry, yet we have 2 actors in the top 5. also $2.4mil for future and $2mil for bdo is pretty poor, imo. BDO should be turning over alot more then that and should have an analysis review the setup and restructure with such a low return rate.

It's great that these guys are making some dosh but they could do better by us, their clients. When Armin played God's Kitchen Brisbane 2006, the decorations were all broken and falling down in his arena. When Armin played the Bedroom 2007 and this year at Brisbane showground there was nowhere at all to sit. The showground venue was downright dangerous with a crush of people between the stage, the bar and the toilets. And, not nearly enough toilets. The queue was so huge I missed tyDi's set. Not impressed!
