Police swoop on another Sydney dance party

Following the police operation at Acer Arena’s Utopia event in early August, which saw 24 people arrested, the authorities were out in force over the weekend, once again at a party held inside the Homebush Olympic Park precinct.

Transmission at the Sports Centre was targeted, with 29 people arrested, leading to more than 40 supply and possession charges. In all almost 300 ecstasy pills were uncovered, with two 18 year old males found to be carrying 42 and 40 tablets each.

News.com.au reported a warning from Flemington’s Superintendent Alf Sergi that further operations were planned. “Over the coming party season, the police will be as much a fixture at these events as the loud music and crowded dance floor.”

“We make no apologies for coming down hard on anyone selling or using these so-called party drugs,” he said. “It is not only against the law but could end up killing you.”

Drugs and music go hand in hand - the authorities only go about it as being 'illegal' as it promotes free thought and earns them a hefty buck in the pocket ;) Cigarettes alone (for example) contribute to more deaths than illegal drugs.. and they are legal.. and being taxed! Its the pharmaceuticals you have to watch out for.. vaccines are killing more people nowadays and they are supposed to be helping us!

if the cops are so concerned about drugs killing us, (which in the case of ecstasy they aren't killing us, unlike cigarettes and alcohol), they should focus on harm prevention by legalising and regulating drugs as opposed to trying to fight an impossible battle by trying to eradicate the world from drugs... it doesn't work.. human nature dictates that occasionally we want to get off our face.. we have been doing it forever and will continue doing it forever... the cops do it, the politicians do it, the media does it.. everybody does it!!

Dont use drugs.. but im sure rapists, bullys and psyco's on the streets will kill before the pill... so how about you bacons focus on the real shit happening in everyday society..... who gives a flying F*#k whats happening at peoples parties. This country definetely has the stupidest legal system ever.... What a sad country we live in.. PFFTT...

Great to to see our hard-earned tax dollars being wasted on pathetic media-appeasing campaigns. 'lets catch 40 people out of 30,000 and we act like we are making a big difference'.

people make their own choices and by arresting some kids that are probably making like no money from selling to make a point to society they are not fixing the problem they sought out to. people are going to drugs whether they get them from one person or the other. it will never stop. maybe if they did concentrate on the person with press they could make a difference but seriously the sponsers and event organisers should start paying them off or creating a fuss because police are risking ppl giving up on going to events. i could really go on forever. its like the hungry jacks gross burger. no one is forcing you to put it in ur mouth

I wonder if Superintendent Alf Sergi is related to Pasquale Sergi who was recently charged importing the world’s largest quantity pills ($440 million/4.4 tones worth).

i read this article just after reading an article on the SMH about how alcohol causes chirossis (spel?) of the liver, cancers, violent behaviour, and many other other health problems, and death, and the government are 'thinking about putting warning labels' on alcohol... does anyone see the irony here?

*Clap Clap* Well done police..what an acheivment! You should focus on the producers...not mere partygoers...you useless carnts. This is just publicity stunt...the cops do it every so often just to re-assure to the general public that they are on-top of drugs...pffft...

totally agree. 2 of those ppl where 30% of the drugs they caught. again. great achievement nsw police.. if u think about it 3000 ppl went to transmission and they caught only what 24 ppl who had drugs on them. and out of those 3000 ppl i say maybe 2800 wood have been on drugs. how is that anywhere near a success?

''so-called party drugs'' haha.....what are they then? evil life destroying drugs that turn you into a thieving violent nutcases roaming the streets trying to find money for more drugs? dont think so....ive never 'craved' ecstacy nor needed it, its just something i do sometimes when im out and the mood is right...its never been a huge problem aside from bad comedowns sometimes which are easily dealt with....its a personal choice that does cause some side effects but thats down to me to choose if i want those side effects or not....same as drinking, its up to you if u want to do it....no one goes around pushing pills on people trying to get them hooked that ive met....its all bollocks....its all to do with money no doubt.....the government cant make money of pills and they dont like it....or something lol....bollox... alcohol causes like 100 times more deaths and illness than pills....what about cigarettes? what about ice, heroin or crack? sureley these things deserve more attention and resources.... trying to stop ecstacy use is fighting a losing battle....why? because people who take ecstacy (most people) know the risks and know thier limits, and know that the MAJORITY of the time a night on pills rarely ends in death or disaster....thats why no matter how many dumb coppers you put in a rave it will never ake a difference....people still dont give a fuck and why should they? why should people be made to feel like criminals for doing something that is actually way way less bad for you than alcohol, doesnt make you violent like booze and doesnt give you lover failure by the age of 40.....why? money, control and power thats why.....cant make money of something? try and control it.....cant control it....get rid of it....or something haha...politics man....fuckun polidicks coppers you are wasting your time trying to stop people taking ecstacy.... ahhh what a rant time for a few scrilly i reckon!

I'm really looking forward to having to deal with a generation of e-tards in 10-15 years when they all stop abusing their brains every weekend and end up with a damaged serotonin system. Seriously guys, pills every now and then are fine but more then once every couple of months is doing you damage. And almost everyone I see in the valley is fucked up on them @ least twice a week. Yes it would be better if the government maintained quality control of drugs and removed them from being the major point of profit for organised crime in Australia. However ranting on a forum to like minded people will change NOTHING about this. So quit your bitching and get out there and do something! There are plenty of lobbying organisations for the decrim / legalisation of marijuana / drugs in Australia. Write to your local member of parliment. It shits me to tears watching all the e-tards flail helplessly and bitch. Look at how Aggro talks, he can barely string a coherant sentance togethor. The police and the government aren't the only people who need to get a grip.
