Parklife is Fuzzy’s biggest national event and one of the most successful entries on the festival calendar all year. This year’s tour is sporting a cracker of a lineup, including Goldfrapp, Soulwax, Blackalicious, Plumps DJs, Martin Solveig and a whole bunch more. Katrina Loughrey, ITM’s promotions coordinator for Melbourne, has given us a rundown of the day.
Arriving early in the afternoon, the crowd was as varied as it gets. “Older, younger, alternative, trendy, fashion victims, the lot! Birrarung Marr is a great location if it can be filled up, and this year’s Parklife attracted a great turn out.” Parklife 2008 was also a smooth and well organised affair. “The stages were well set up with two of them under massive tents, with lots of food available and plenty of well-serviced toilets. We never had to wait too long for anything really which was great!”
Not surprisingly, Goldfrapp received the biggest response from the crowd, with the mighty Soulwax coming in at a close second. “The massive screens were impressive, even from the back. Everyone was rocking out to their set!” Blackalicious belted out a lively performance and Jesse Rose attracted a small but dedicated crowd with his electro-infused beats. “As the final act of the evening, 2manydjs were a lot of fun and we danced up a storm. Right on 10pm it started to bucket down, the entire crowd racing back to the CBD was a bit of a laugh.”
