It’s been a point of furious discussion and debate on inthemix over the past few weeks, with many joining in on the fun of the Good Vibrations Festival’s ‘guess the line-up’ game. You don’t need to speculate any longer, as inthemix can now give you the full rundown on first round artists for the festival’s 2009 tour!
Topping the bill it’s the original party-starter and one of the dance scene’s longest serving and most renowned DJs, the one and only Fatboy Slim! He’ll be joined by Australia’s most powerful live dance act – who are coming off the back of their biggest year ever in 2008 – ARIA nominated indie duo The Presets. Not to be outdone, Philadelphia’s finest The Roots are also on board, and they’ll be bringing their 100% live hip-hop show to headline The Roots stage of course!
As well as the tried and tested favourites, Good Vibrations will also serve up some exciting new names to the Australian festival circuit in 2009, with Canada’s fast rising star of the global club scene Deadmau5 joining the bill, along with electro-pop’s new crown prince Sam Sparro. A certified legend in drum & bass circles, Roni Size will be coming back with his Reprazent live band in town for their first Australian tour since 2001, and having rocked local audiences last summer we’ll also get another dose of electro-funk gods Chromeo.
Of course that’s only the tip of the iceberg, as you’ll also get to see the Stanton Warriors, The Potbelleez, Kid Kenobi & MC Shureshock, Micky Slim, Yelle, Wale, The Cuban Brothers, Rico Tubbs and Mike Relm. Plus… supreme beatboxer Supernatural will on hosting duties throughout the day! For the Melbourne folk, also take note that the venue has now been revealed, with Good Vibrations moving to a brand new location in 2009, The Nursery at Flemington Racecourse.

disappointing. half those ppl already toured last year. fatboy slim , roots is awesome and deadmau5.. i think everyone has seen the potbelleez and presets a number of times.. id rather see fatboy slim as a sideshow and deadmau5 at nevermind not gona pay 130 for a bunch of half ass acts.

please can they please do something about the Sydney Venue - i decided to stop going to Good Vibes two years ago coz of over-crowding and really bad time-tabling (lucky i didn't go last year coz i heard it was worst). this is an awesome line-up and i want to go, but i don't want my day ruined by over-crowding and general bad organising.

roots is the only thing going for that lineup for the hip hop heads...im not complaining, they are my fav band, but usually they put three good hip hop acts on there..hopefuly more wil get announced.. supernatyural,im assume they mean supernat, which will be sick..but the person who wrote the article knows nothing, they wrote, supreme beatboxer..get ur facts right!!

i was so excited until i saw the venue for melb... bdo was as dusty as earthcore - i forgot i was less than 10mins from metro melb while i was there - it sucked - it sucked so hard.... is the nursery the same part? i'd be willing to go back there if it was in a diff part of the racegrounds but i somehow doubt that... screw it i'll wear a dust mask

Why are they wasting the money on Fat Boy Slim...??? was everybody that fooked at Bondi Shore Thing to realise he is one of the worst DJs around... must admit I am quite pleased to see good ol Roni Size on his way out here... hope he plays a smaller gig like Gaelic Club... bring on the party season!!!!

Pretty good line-up - never been to a Good vibes but Deadmau5, Chromeo and Stantons will probably get me there. would like to see a random, left-field headliner like Prince or maybe Roisin Murphy though.

I agree with the comments below about the sydney venuie. I haven't been for 2 years as the overcrowding was horrific. GV managed to ruin J5 for many peop[le by sticking them in a tiny tent. The roots are the biggest name on the line up and will be only seen by around 20% of the people and they risk being crushed to death. Fatboy Slim pleeeeease. All the other acts are club acts bar Sam Sparro. Dissapointing - maybe i'm getting old though
