Last year’s winners of The Australian Music Prize were The Mess Hall, and if they’re any indication it certainly proves the AMP acknowledges real talent, not real big budgets. And for that it’s well worth making a fuss over.
The AMP returns for its fourth year in 2008, with the cash prize upped to $30,000 – which is a bit of alright for a band on the make. The call has now gone out to “all artists across every musical genre to submit original album-length works (released in 2008)”.
We’d love to see a dance, electronic or hip hop artist take the cake, so if you’ve got the goods there’s an early bird entry fee of only $55 applicable from 1st to 31st October. Without exception, entries must be in by 21 November.
Everything you need to know is at the AMP website.
