An email hoax has circulated recently, inciting all manner of age-ist protest against Academy nightclub in Civic. The email appeared as a snap shot from the Canberra Times, displaying an article entitled Night Club to Ban Over 25s.

The faux article found it way onto the computer screens of many Canberrans (including on the inthemix forums!), and it eventually made its way through to the hands of Academy’s production and event manager, Jim Medcraft.

“Academy welcomes all people and does not
discriminate based on age”, said Jim, when speaking about the hoax. “To show this we are offering free entry this weekend to any one over the age of 25”.

So there you have it! All clubbers over the age of 25 will receive free entry to the Bag Raiders at Academy this Saturday as a result of the runaway joke.
