In a rather interesting turn of events Fuzzy have revealed exclusively to inthemix that US house music heavyweight Roger Sanchez will no longer be heading down under for Field Day 2009. It’s not all bad news, however, as Sanchez’s cancellation has made way for the one and only Eric Prydz to step in and fill the void! That’s right, the legendary Swedish producer will now play Field Day on his debut visit to Australia, as well as Shore Thing on NYE alongside Underworld and The Presets.
“Despite Field Day getting 100% booking confirmation in writing, approval of billing, artwork and playing time from Roger Sanchez’s agent way back in September (before we began advertising),” Fuzzy said in a statement released today. “His agent has informed us that Roger is also booked to play New Year’s Eve in Germany and cannot come to Australia.”
“We are incredulous that this massive a mistake could have been made by an agent and act at this level,” the statement continued. “However every cloud has a silver, or in this case perhaps platinum, lining: Eric Prydz will now be playing at Field Day, as well as a host of other acts to be announced soon, in our opinion improving the already stunning line up.”
Eric Prydz joins the likes of Santogold, Boys Noize, Digitalism, Jamie Lidell, Adam Freeland, Switch, Busy P and many more on the Field Day line-up. For all the latest on the NYD event, including news updates, DJ mixes, videos and more, head to inthemix’s festival page.
