Big Day Out 2009 Lineup (Second Round)
The real deal is here; round two of the Big Day Out 2009 line-up. Leading the new guard is dark master Serj Tankian, who has reinvented himself with arresting solo album Elect The Dead. The man fronted System Of A Down on the Big Day Out circuit in 2002 and 2005, and his new live show bristles with grit and theatricality.
An act touted by ITM earlier this week that made the cut is party-band-to-beat Hot Chip. It’s onstage that this five-piece shines brightest, weaving its polished electro-pop into dancefloor dynamite. Equally explosive in front of a crowd is Lupe Fiasco – who returns to Big Day Out after leaving the country reeling in January 2007. Sweetening the deal for hip hop heads, legendary turntablist Z-Trip will also be flexing his considerable musical muscle on the ones and twos.
It’s not a Big Day Out without a few bands whose buzz precedes them. Fulfilling that quota in 2009 will be indie-rock sensations Black Kids (their debut album Partie Traumatic set off a gush-avalanche) and DFA duo/remixers du jour Holy Ghost! And then there’s the local contingent, including The Vines, Infusion, Children Collide, Pee Wee Ferris, Sparkadia, The Getaway Plan, Little Red, Mammal, Mercy Arms, Ajax, Andee Frost and The Drones (east coast only).

feels increasingly disappointed with self for seeing start and pretty lights when the prodigy were announced and buying tickets, so as to see them twice... now seeing just how much of a mistake that was.... and the tickets are ugly...

Major Yawn... Only decient additions are Dropkick, who have been out here twice in the past 2 years, and Lupe, who was on BDO 2yrs ago... seriously, when did BDO become so adverage when it comes to lineups?

yeah its alright could be better but shit been thrown at bands (not just at bdo) the flags issue bjork and silverchair incidents the fact that the one band dominates the day overshadowing other bands dont think that doesnt get around the industry national and abroad we have a shit reputation as a crowd and big day out will die on their arse if it keeps going that way as other massive festivals have in the past general shitheads in the crowd
