Sydney was treated to a genuine UK-style festival on Saturday with the opening leg of the Good Vibrations tour, with the rain setting in during the early afternoon and only increasing as the party kicked on. It was ponchos, gumboots and mudslides galore, but for those who had the guts to stick it out, they were treated to some extremely fine music. Check out Australia’s first photos on ITM!

So what stuck out musically? The infamous mask-wearing Deadmau5 got full credit for tearing the canvas roof off the Laundry tent, as did UK breaks heroes Stanton Warriors who brought a whole crate (or laptop) worth of new material. The Pharcyde won the most praise over at the Roots tent, while reports suggest that DJ headliner Fatboy Slim struggled to overcome the elements and create a proper party vibe amongst the pouring rain.
Stay tuned for photos from Sunday’s marginally sunnier Melbourne event, and plenty more Good Vibrations coverage to come. Here’s a taste of Deadmau5 getting the party started on Saturday night…
