The first and second round announcements for the 2009 V Festival tour were more or less met with a resounding ‘what the?’ by the inthemix audience, most notably for their almost complete lack of any marquee dance acts on the bill.
While in the past the festival had boasted the likes of Groove Armada, Soulwax, The Presets, Air, CSS, Robyn, Cut Copy, Pet Shop Boys, The Rapture and many more club friendly artists on their lineup, in 2009 the pickings are indeed slim.
If you’ve been wondering to yourself why the festival had taken a step away from music of the electronic variety, organisers have now posted a short and succinct explanation on the their website in the hope of clearing the air.
“There’s a distinct lack of dance / electronic acts in comparison to past V Festivals,” asked one inquisitive punter. “Is this a direction the festival has taken, or is it just the way the bookings have ended up this year?”
“It’s really just the way that the Festival’s ended up,” organisers respond. “Between Future [Music Festival], Good Vibes, Sure [sic] Thing, Nevereverland etc… there’s massive demand for dance acts. We just couldn’t find anything good that was available or hadn’t just been!”
So there you have it… case closed, right? If you’re heading along to this year’s festival regardless, to party alongside The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol, M83, Elbow, Duffy and more, then head on over to the inthemix festival page here to see the set times.
