Elbow, Duffy and Snow Patrol aren’t exactly the kind of musical acts one associates with rampant drug use, however it seems that the NSW Police do.
Early this morning the NSW police department released a statement urging punters attending V Festival at Centennial Park this weekend to “obey the law and enjoy the day safely.” Just in case you had other plans, they are bringing in some pretty hefty enforcement to ensure you play safe.
Their V Festival operation, which will take place in and around the venue, includes “police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command, the drug detection unit, licensing police, mounted police units and police trail bike units…drug detection dogs as well as a large number of overt and covert police resources aimed at catching those taking or dealing illegal drugs.”
Following the tragic death of a 17 year old girl at the Perth Big Day Out earlier in the year, it seems that the police are taking no chances when it comes to recreational drug use at festivals.
