We might be 6 months out from the kick-off date for Parklife 2009, but it doesn’t mean we’re not keen on finding out who Fuzzy have got on the bill. Right? Right! We’ve had our ear to the ground over the past few weeks and already a few names have sprung forth. It’s time to start getting excited…
First up, it’s the first lady of ‘chav hop’ and world’s best Sporty Spice lookalike, miss Lady Sovereign. The UK MC broke through in 2006 with her debut album Public Warning and singles Hoodie and Love Me Or Hate Me, and now after some time in hiding she’s back with a new album, a new label, and a renewed interest in touring. “I’ll be at the Parklife festival,” she told Triple J last week. “I’m looking forward to it because the last time I came to Australia I don’t think I spent enough time there and I really loved it.”
Not to be outdone, you can also pencil in Canada’s finest musical export since Celine Dion, the all-conquering electro duo known as MSTRKRFT. The boys are no strangers to Parklife – having appeared on the 2007 national tour alongside Justice. They’ve got a brand new album to flaunt this time around, Fist Of God – coming out on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, locally through etcetc – which is preceded by the single Bounce (already burning up dancefloors down under. Check the A-Trak remix for proof!) Kicking back at home in Toronto recently, Jesse F. Keeler of the outfit revealed to inthemix they would be back for the festival in 2009.
