Speaking with inthemix today, Jeremy Greenspan of synth-pop serenaders Junior Boys revealed the duo is heading here in September for “some festival that travels around”. Featured in ITM’s Most Wanted Tours Of 2009 back in February, Junior Boys have never before brought their live show down our way. The singer was a little shaky on details, but there’s enough to suggest we could be in for a Junior Boys debut at Parklife.
“We leave in a couple of days to do a tour in Europe, and then supposedly to Australia in September. I think there’s some festival that travels around.” When asked if the word ‘Parklife’ rings a bell, Greenspan replied, “I think that sounds right!” It’s certainly enough to give us hope, and we can add it to an exiting list of potentials that already includes MSTRKFT and Lady Sovereign, Tiga and Erol Akan and last week’s revelation of Claude VonStroke.
The Canadian outfit has just released a third album, Begone Dull Care, which introduces a bit more late-night stomp and disco groove to their sound. According to Greenspan, the live set has followed suit. “On this tour, we definitely have beefed up [the songs] considerably,” he told ITM. “This tour has been catering more to a dance audience than we have in the past. In my ideal world we would play two halves of a set: some upbeat stuff, but start with our ballad-y stuff.”
Junior Boys for Parlife? Hang tight, and stay tuned to ITM for the full interview that’s coming soon.
