Australia’s Ministry of Sound have already shaken up local dance music this year with several hugely successful releases, and in late July they’ll be steering things in another new direction. They’ll be tackling the trance genre for the first time in Australia with Trance Nation, a double-CD release set for release in July, and they’ve recruited two massive names to help them do it in the form of inthemix50 #1 Tydi, as well as the UK’s Above & Beyond!

For Tydi, it’ll come at the end of a massive 12 months that has seen him snare the top spot in the inthemix50, jetting off to Holland to play mainstage at Trance Energy as well as releasing of his debut artist album Look Closer which is currently sitting pretty in the ARIA dance charts top 20 for the fourth consecutive week (check out the ITM review). With Tydi’s mix placed alongside the Anjuabeats powerhouse trio that is Above & Beyond, Trance Nation is sure to be a massive release.

It’s also an interesting new direction for the Aussie branch of Ministry of Sound, who have already enjoyed plenty of success in 2009 with two whopping triple-disc releases in the form of Clubber’s Guide to 2009 and the new Sessions 6, as well as their take on some of the edgier variations of mainroom house in the clubs at the moment with Progression 2. We’ve already seen the Trance Nation brand overseas, mixed by names like Ferry Corsten and Judge Jules, but Tydi and Above & Beyond’s effort will mark its debut into the Australian market.

Ministry of Sound’s Trance Nation hits the record shelves on July 25th, and it’ll be backed up with a national tour from late July through until September. Stay tuned to ITM for details!

Tydi is well worth the hype he gets. He has worked the long haul for his place, and it's a pity you can't appreciate his sets. I for one think he has done great things for the Australian trance scene, and look forward to seeing him create an even better p

bag tydi all you want but he has long been the australia's answer to that local electro tripe we get. i see tall poppy syndrome here..........we are upset over the lack of big local trance djs.........then when once makes it..........."oh he's cheesy" "oh

I disagree that TyDi is overrated i personally like his music his conversations with the ITM crew are nice and he sounds pretty good live. Better than the spammed electro mashups i seem to hear every weekend.

It's good to see MOS releasing Trance Nation once again. I've picked up all the releases from the past years and they've always been good. My friends and I have seen/heard Tydi twice this year, and sorry have to agree, definitely OVER rated.
