House fans in Sydney and Melbourne take note; weekends like this coming don’t happen all that often, so get ready to welcome two of House music’s biggest names! In what is a double header to make Pacha Ibiza blush, Masters At Work veteran Louie Vega and disco house champion Dimitri From Paris will both be in Sydney and Melbourne this weekend, playing alternate Friday and Saturday nights.
Over at Trademark, Sydney’s hard-working SHE crew are putting the finishing touches to what is a sold out appearance by Parisienne on Friday night, while Vega will appear at Market Bar in Melbourne in what will be his first Australian appearance in many, many years.
On Saturday night, things get reversed, with Dimitri playing Alumbra in Melbourne and Zeta Bar in Sydney welcoming Louie Vega. Both DJ/producers are revered the world over for their tight productions, remixes and tireless support of house and world music.
In the case of Louie Vega, a career spanning nearly 25 years has seen him work with some of the biggest names in music. Alongside production partner Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez, Masters At Work were the most formidable remix team in the business throughout the 1990s. More recently, Vega has focused more on his weekly Roots party at Cielo in his home town New York, in addition to releasing cuts on his celebrated Vega Records imprint.
Dimitri From Paris meanwhile, continues to travel the world sharing his love of deep, soulful, disco-infused beats. Hit latest compilation on BBE released in collaboration with the Idjut Boys – Night Dubbin: A Dubbed Out Collection Of Classic 80s Dance Music – is exposing the DJ/producer to a whole new legion of fans, and his feel good sets should not be missed.
Hats off to promoters for bringing these important names in house to our shores So, who’s it going to be this weekend?
