Two years since its inception, we’ve missed the crazy competition that is Podwars. But we can now report that our favourite musical meeting of the ‘pods is returning in 2009. This time around will be a battle of the bars, with Canberran publicans from Parlour Wine Room, Trinity Bar, ANU Bar and Knigsbridge Penthouse competing for ultimate Podwars glory. You’ve never seen your regular bar staff like this.

The new Podwars will be executed in roulette style. Competing teams will have to pre-prepare a playlist on their mp3 players and hit ‘shuffle’. This will make the event chaotic, ridiculous and hilarious. After each team has had their move by playing a track, you decide the winner via cheer volume. Many teams from the past have been known to throw on-stage hissy-fits, or even resign to the bar in tears while the victor walks away with prizes and respect. There’s nothing more entertaining than seeing grown people lose it.
