Following the continued success of events under the ID&T and Q-dance umbrella in Australia – including Sensation, Trance Energy and Defqon.1 – the Dutch invasion looks set to continue with news their mega-festival Mystery Land will also make its way down under in 2011. ID&T’s managing director Duncan Stutterheim – who spent time in Australia prior to the launch of Sensation last year – was back here on a reconnaissance trip in June, and he spent time scouting potential locations along the east coast. It is rumoured Byron Bay is the front-runner at present.
Mystery Land has been on the scene in Holland for more than 15 years, making it one of the world’s longest running dance events having launched way back in 1993. It currently attracts more than 60,000 dance fans to the spectacular outdoor setting of Floriade Haarlemmermeer each year, and in 2009 the festival is set to feature names like Sander Van Doorn, the Swedish House Mafia, Adam Beyer, Fedde Le Grand, Tocadisco, John Dahlback, Mark Knight, Ricardo Villalobos, Above & Beyond, Marco V, Felix Da Housecat and even Australia’s own Sneaky Sound System.
