As we roll into the thick of July and the winter season, all of us here at ITM HQ are hankering for the approaching summer and its glorious run of festivals. And with every passing day, the festivals get a little bit closer. Take today for instance, where we found out that Modular’s bash of bashes, Nevereverland, was gearing up for another round of action.
A peek over at the newly refurbished Nevereverland website reveals a new video message from the Modular honchos, explaining (with great humility, right?) how the indie-label-that-could brought reclusive French maestros Daft Punk and their sensory-expanding pyramid of awesomeness to our shores in 2007, and followed that up in 2008 with a less-life-changing-but-equally-fun lineup of in-house stallions Cut Copy, The Presets, Ladyhawke and international fare such as Klaxons, The Whitest Boy Alive and Hercules & Love Affair. Not too shabby, eh?
So what’s on the cards this year? Well we’re not too sure. Modular’s message does reveal that the traveling festival will return in 2009, but gives no clues as to who’ll grace its stage. “The magic carpet ride continues. Stay tuned and all will be revealed…,” the cryptic message states.
So where does that leave us? We now know that Nevereverland will be back in full force, and that the “magic carpet” line either suggests we’ll see a supremely cosmic set from pysch-rockers Wolfmother or that the guys at Modular just really dig Aladdin. Will we see more international superstars? More meltdowns from Muscles? Only time will tell.
While we wait for more info on this year’s event, relive the magic with our Nevereverland photo archives!
