The Australian dance scene has been shaken to its very core this week – with an eruption of belly laughter, after a clever viral video hit the net that’s arguably one of the sharpest pieces of satire ever made on the Australian dance culture. Anyone who has more than a cursory interest into how the cut throat dance and festival scene works may have come across this rather amusing video in the past few days, with the clip having gone well and truly viral on Facebook and YouTube.
Is this really what goes on behind-the-scenes in the dance industry? It’s a turbulent tale of competing festival and events organisers, DJs playing rival promoters off against each other, 1st-release tickets being brought back off eBay and the poltics of who gets to play the closing set.
