Eternally referred to as “Australia’s finest DJ export”, progressive and underground house veteran Anthony Pappa is currently cruising off the back of his critically acclaimed Moments vol. 2 compilation (currently ITM’s Album of the Week), and last week he told ITM he’ll be returning to Australia over the New Year period. It’ll be a tour that will see him returning to the comfortable surroundings of our nation’s clubs.
“I’ll be back in December and January for more gigs, from mid December to mid January, so it should be cool,” Anthony told ITM. “I’m doing Brisbane, Sydney on New Years Eve and Melbourne on New Years Day, two gigs in Perth and I think Canberra, so pretty much everywhere really.” Passing by all the festivals that will be going on at the time, he’ll be sticking to the darkened rooms for this tour. “The Sydney gig is Chinese Laundry, the Melbourne gig is Darkbeat, I think Rise in Perth and I’m sure the others are all clubs too.”
It’s been a busy 12 months of Australian appearances for Anthony, who’s probably spent more time in his home country’s clubs than at any point since he departed for the UK back in the late 90s. “I usually come once a year, but I’ve come three or four times this year which is nice. I like coming to Australia as it’s my home really.”
Anthony Pappa’s Moments vol. 2 is out now in Australia through Stomp, stay tuned for ITM’s full audio interview as well as full details on Anthony’s NY tour.
