Sydney’s Freedom Festival is shaping up to have a fine lineup indeed, and it’s been shaped up even more with the news the one of the original tech-trance pioneers Marco V has been added to the lineup. While there’s no news yet on whether he’ll be playing anywhere else across the country, in Sydney he joins fellow trance artists like Rank 1, Wippenberg and Agnelli & Nelson as well as yesterday’s lineup announcement that included Thomas Gold, Eddie Thoneick and more.

Dutchman Marvo V helped establish the tech-trance framework earlier in the decade with classics like Simulated and More Than a Life Away, which has proved so successful in the past two years in particular that it’s got figures like Ferry Corsten wondering when the next production craze is going to come along (check out yesterday’s news for more info).

Never one to be pigeonholed as a ‘trance DJ’, Marco draws also liberally from techno, house and electro in his sets, and he’s also been a headline performer at some of Europe’s biggest events including Sensation and Trance Energy. He was in the country this year for the local incarnation of both those events, and he’ll be making a welcome return for Freedom Festival in November.

Stay tuned for news on whether Marco V will be playing any other dates across the country, and check out the lineup so far for Sydney’s Freedom Festival:

Rank 1

Scot Project

I work in the industry .... well radio actually... i have enquired with the promoters about some of the acts. I have been told that no sideshows will be happening in sydney but will be happening in the other states.

I don't blame the promoters for not giving sideshows to other places in Sydney. They put all the effort and money into organising the gigs and flying them out here, etc. If people don't want to go to Parramatta Stadium (pathetic excuse) then they will mis

I'm glad they didn't choose the Hordern again. Really getting sick of every event using it. I think you will find none of the dj's are doing in Sydney, but other states
