The past week has been filled with speculation and detective work trying to suss out the lineup for the epic national festival Good Vibrations next year, with the Jam Music crew behind Good Vibes sending curious ITM sleuths on a wild-goose-chase to unlock the cryptic clues behind the lineup.
If you thought the hints were a little difficult you wouldn’t be alone, as it seems the Good Vibes team have relented ever so slightly, today unveiling one of the international artists set to appear on the travelling festival. Who is it? As much as we’d love to keep you in suspense, we’re happy to reveal that it’s none other than Kid Cudi.
Yes, Kid Cudi, the US rapper with the left-of-centre ethos will cap off a triumphant 12 months with his Australian festival birth at Good Vibes next year. 2009 has been a coming of age year for the Kanye West protégée, just last month releasing his cinematic debut album The Man On The Moon: End Of Day, a refreshingly thoughtful hip hop record. Such seems to be the course Cudi’s career is taking, with the rapper dabbling in multiple fields, including dance collaborations with Crookers, David Guetta and Ratatat as well as the requisite rap hook-ups with Kanye and Common.
ITM managed to squeeze in some time with the rap star last week to discuss his spot on the Good Vibrations festival and he revealed that he’s pumped about returning to Australia. “I can’t wait to come back,” Cudi enthused. “I love it down there, man. It’s my dream to move there and get a house in Sydney or Melbourne. I can’t wait.”
To hear more of ITM’s chat with Kid Cudi, just check out the full interview over here. Meanwhile, the Good Vibrations floodgates are officially open now, so expect more updates and announcements to come through shortly. Whilst we wait though, turn your attention back to our Good Vibrations clues story and get your thinking caps on. Kid Cudi’s now off the list, and Friendly Fires have also mentioned that they’ll be here for the festival, so who else can you find?
