We already knew that big ol’ grand daddy of dance music himself Pete Tong would be joining the illustrious lineup of artists who would be venturing to our country over the New Year period, and he’s now been announced as the headliner for a brand new boutique event for Melbourne on New Years Day. Daydream will take place at Shed 14 of the Peninsula Docklands, and in addition to their UK guest they’ll have a range of local supports on the house tip that include TV Rock, Goldfish, Those Usual Suspects and more.
What to say about Pete Tong? His British accent is known and loved by clubbers around the world as the host of the Essential Mix, one of the world’s most listened to and downloaded radio shows, and in 2009 he’s just as much of an authoritative tastemaker as he ever was. Known as a party DJ who pleases the crowds, but still remains on the cutting edge of dance culture, it’s hard to know what he’ll bring with him on NYD other than the fact they’ll be plenty of excellent tunage.
Pete Tong plays Daydreams in Melbourne on Friday 1st January 2010.
