The hype swirling around next year’s Good Vibrations Festival continues to build this week with Jam Music’s announcement of a Sydney show that’s timed conveniently around the tour. Renowned US party starter Z-Trip will be hitting Sydney’s The Forum on Friday 19th February, a little under week after the Good Vibrations tour kicks off its first date. Joining him will be old-school hip hop DJ Spinderella – who also happens to be the musical backbone behind Salt-N-Pepa.
Z-Trip has been rocking Aussie crowds for years and seems like an ideal choice for Good Vibrations, while Spinderella was recently in the country for a run of club dates – would it be a jump to assume she’ll be bringing the full Salt-N-Pepa posse with her this time around? The legendary girl group would make plenty of sense as addition to the lineup, keeping in theme with the festival’s history of securing old-school hip hop icons – Cypress Hill and the Beastie Boys are just some of the stalwarts they’ve hosted in the past.
Whatever the case may be, the suspense is reaching unbearable levels… We were appeased with the news on Monday that US rapper Kid Cudi will be part of the lineup, with indie-dance crew Friendly Fires also revealing they’ll be here for the festival. However, this year’s set of lineup clues have left the typically-savvy ITM community completely baffled. Last year the code was all but cracked, but this year we’ve only managed to turn up a seemingly inappropriate list of acts like Smashing Pumpkins, Dandy Warhols and Infected Mushroom. Err, none of who quite fit the bill…
Well, the wait is almost over as it’s been confirmed the full lineup will be arriving before the week is out! So make sure you keep your eyes peeled to ITM.
