Canberra’s original building where politicians gathered to run our beloved country is once again being transformed into an outdoor dance party by Friction and Lexington Music. Old Parliament House is finally being fully utilised by youngens, making the most of an old building with a tired purpose. And so it should, as Ryan Phillips from Lexington explained to ITM.

“We chose the House of Reps courtyard as it is an amazing space within a heritage listed building with the best acoustics of any venue we have come across… what could be be better in the summer for an outdoor event in the evening?” Ryan said. “We are doing our part to assist Ruddy with his economic stimulus package, the men and woman on the hill should be happy!”

You might remember last year that Our House was meant to become a monthly party (as it is this summer), but disappeared after just two events. The promoters’ plans were foiled thanks to an influx of, would you believe, wedding bookings!

This year the November 3 launch sees Kid Kenobi with the lovable MC Shureshock, Bass Kleph and Emily Scott take the place of the pollies while you’re invited to head over after the Melbourne Cup celebrations from 5pm. In fact, keep that suit or frock n’ heels on because there’s a strict dress code to uphold.

So what do the politicians think of the takeover? We have no idea. But to any opposed Ryan says “Grab a glass of fruity lexia and remember the good times when you were young!” Amen to that. Now pass the goon.

Our House hits Old Parliament House on Tuesday 3rd November.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
