It was with baited breath that ITM last week announced that super-sized Ibiza party brand Space Ibiza would be making its way to Australia for the very first time over the New Years stretch, throwing a monster outdoor bash in Sydney to celebrate its 20th birthday. With such an occasion touching down in Australia, expectations have been set understandably high for the event, with many wondering just how big it could be. Well, wonder no more, as the lineup has arrived and it is bigger than big.

Kicking 2010 off in an epic way will be none other than living legend Pete Tong, who oversaw the rise of BBC’s Essential Mix series and whose wealth of club knowledge outshines all others. Already in the country for some other New Years parties, the Ibiza veteran is a perfect choice to spearhead Space’s New Years Day debut.

Joining the mighty Tong will be a host of big name internationals, both familiar and unfamiliar to these shores, including influential German duo Tiefschwarz, electro-pop ex-pat Sam Sparro and the one and only Derrick Carter, all of whom will be tearing up The Show Ring in Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter with Space’s mess of outrageous dancers and stilt-walkers.
