“Hopefully, we’re thinking of coming out to Australia next March, as obviously there’s some great festivals happening that time of year.” So said Nick Warren when chatting to ITM, one half of Way Out West along with fellow DJ/producer Jodi Wisternoff. He confirmed they’re currently in talks to join the massive Future Music Festival tour when it rolls around the country early next year. “That’s what we’re hoping for, we’re speaking to the guys at the moment and we’ll see what we can do.”
Way Out West AKA Nick Warren and Jodi Wisternoff were responsible for ITM’s current Album of the Week with We Love Machine, an LP that was five years in the making and saw them investing heavily in old-school analogue music machinery while they were putting it together. Nick says we can expect a different variation on their live show this time around, to reflect the fact that the new album is a much more dancefloor oriented affair.
“We played in Australia when we supported Faithless few years ago, doing the whole live band thing with a drummer, guitarist etc. But this time Jodi and I have changed the format a lot, and it’s along the same lines of a Chemical Brothers or Underworld show, it’s us mixing and playing live onstage with visuals. It’s a lot punchier, and we’re really pleased with the way the show is sounding. So that’s what you’ll be getting when we come over.”
Way Out West’s We Love Machine is out now through 405 Recordings and Stomp. Stay tuned for news on any Way Out West appearances in 2010!
